Working with Executive Producer Roman Lukyanov at Glassworks London, I supervised a team of Flame, Nuke & 3D ops.

There was a mix of invisible clean-up & 3D comps, but nothing, thankfully, that altered the fabric of the location’s bold & slightly grungy feel. It took a while to get some parts looking right & I was pleased that the job was not rushed in any way. The 3D bus replacements went through a number of difficult iterations before slotting into the final piece with a brilliant, frame-filling confidence. They look exactly as they should.

The grade, by James Bamford (previously of the Mill), gives a warm vintage feel that suits the bustling city. The look sits well with the lo-fi fashions & the unremarkable classical US architecture. This identifiable backdrop provides just enough contrast to suggest the brilliance of the Toyota design. It’s a believable vision - what we know, and don’t-yet-know, presented together. A not-quite-Blade-Runner-esque future, but one that’s nearly here.
